The last day of Life Ok's popular daily show Ek Boond Ishq
was filled with emotional and nostalgic moments. A sweet gesture from the
show’s lead actor, Viraf Phiroz Patel, made it even more. Viraf has always
spoken about his attachment for EBI and about how special the journey has been.
The actor displayed his love and affection by gifting something special to each
and every team member starting from the spot boys, to the light men upto the
director and all the technicians as well. He even took special efforts to pick
the right gift for every member. They say actions speak louder than words and
this gesture is certainly goes a step ahead.
Viraf Patel has recently been raising many an eyebrow for
his on going performance as the enigmatic Mrityunjay Singh Shekawat on Life
OK’s Ek Boond Ishq. Strangely, he chose to exploit the romantic thriller genre
while choosing to step into his first daily soap after his successful and much
applauded stint with YRF TV. Ask Viraf, though he was offered the safe and
lucrative family drama and mythological productions on more established TV
channels why he chose a romantic show, he quips ‘main romance ke liye paida hua
hoon ‘.
Mrityunjay Singh Shekawat as a character has turned out to
big draw for him as an actor and a challenge as it has taken at least 4 avatars
in the past 4 months, which according to the audience Viraf has pulled off with
much élan. Viraf’s portrayal of all these strong, emotionally driven avatars
has kept the television audience gripped to the show. Fans of the show vouch
for the sizzling onscreen chemistry between Mrityunjay and Tara Shekhawat
(co-actor Chhavi Pandey) to an extent where some fans refuse to believe they
are not a couple in real life.
Good looks, a strong persona and an inherent passion for acting are what define Viraf. He is also known for the diversity of roles he has played
in the past as Shiv - the Mr. Perfect in Yashraj Film’s Mahi Way, the suave
businessman Adityaraj Merchant in ‘Kismat’ or the romantic but busy husband
‘Shreshth’ in Teri Meri Love Stories.
Viraf, a Pune resident, actually started off his professional
career as a sailor in the Merchant Navy. After 5 years of sailing, In 2005, he
participated in Grasim Mister India and went on to win the title. Since then,
Viraf’s love for the camera has only grown. As a model, Viraf has been
associated with several ad campaigns, ramp shows & music videos, and the
advertising industry knows him as the Limca guy thanks to his 2010 Limca Doobo
taazgi main campaign with Hrishita Bhatt.
He has also been the face of the country’s largest garment
retail brand Pantaloons. On the ramp, he has walked for the most sought after
designers for India Fashion week, Lakme Fashion week and the likes. On the
personal front, this Gemini has a penchant for cooking that friends and family
swear by. Viraf’s a passionate photographer and being behind the camera excites
him just as much as facing it. While not shooting Viraf is often found prancing
around his set, shooting and editing his own short films.
