Sports-based films have always
caught Bollywood's fancy. From Lagaan to Chak De India! to Paan Singh Tomar to Bhaag
Milkha Bhaag to Mary Kom, copious films highlighting different types of games
and/or sports have been made and received overwhelming response too. Now, gear
up for yet another sports-driven film called Badlapur Boys, which is based on
Kabbadi.
Not to be mistaken with Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's "Badlapur" which is also set to hit the screen soon, Badlapur Boys is a poignant story
of a bunch of underdogs, who not only play Kabaddi passionately, but also get
involved in crucial socio-economic issues. What is interesting is all this
while Bollywood played around international games, for the first time ever we
will witness the domestic game, Kabbadi being showcased on big screen. Actor
Annu Kapoor plays the role of a Kabaddi coach in the film.
Produced by Karrm movies and
directed by Shailesh Verma, Badlapur Boys stars Nishshan, Saranya Mohan, Annu
Kapoor, Shashank Udapurkar, Puja Gupta, Anupam Maanav, Kishori Shahane, Mazhar
Khan, Ankit Sharma, Vineet, and Aman Verma in the lead roles. The music of the
movie is given by Sachin Gupta, Shamir Tandon and Raju Sardar while the lyrics
are penned by Sameer Anjaan.
The film is all set to release on
December 12, 2014.
