Celebrities support “Samvedna” to support the underprivileged

Mumbai saw a charity art auction and fund raiser to support medical camps and cataract surgeries. The art auction was hosted by a Nikhar Tandon Foundation “Samvedna”.  Paintings at the event included works by Nikhar Tandon, a Grade 10 student of the reputed Ecole Mondiale World School. To support the cause was Chief Guest Rahul Narvekar, MLC of NCP along with Shaina NC, the spokesperson for BJP. The Foundation had organized an Art auction in order to realize its objectives in making a positive difference to the community.

Samvedna was started by Nikhar Tandon at the age of 13 and today it stand with an accomplished 2 year working. The word Samvedna encapsulates the essence of compassion- it doesn’t stem so much from sympathy, as it does from fellow feeling and empathy. It doesn’t aim to say, ‘I feel for you’, rather to reach out and assure that, ‘I feel the same as you do.’ The motto of Samvedna is thus  ‘Our Passion is Compassion’ and is a manifestation of our compassion in action. The organization strives not to lend a hand, but to work hand-in-hand with the underprivileged. Free medical camps, donation drives, provision of supplies, building basic infrastructure and creating awareness about key issues like health and hygiene are part of the agenda.

On this eventful day Nikhar shared her thoughts, “I’m overwhelmed by the support received from everyone. The objective of having immaculate white as the theme was symbolic of the blank canvases of our hidden potential and the purity they possess. I strongly believe that we young minds can change the scenario of the underprivileged and am looking forward to planning many such magnanimous ventures.”

The part of the proceeds will go towards the Chief Minister Relief fund and part of it towards funding of medical camps and cataract surgeries along with provision of financed medical aid.

To show their support actresses Karisma Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Lisa Haydon, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Gauhar Khan, Richa Chadha amongst others were present. It was a great sight to see the celebs getting out and standing by the 15 year old Nikhar Tandon and her initiative.
