Uttarakhand Short Film Festival will return for its 2nd year on February 22, 2015

UFD Uttarakhand Short Film Festival that recently closed its 2015 Short Film competition entries from young talented directors across the globe is slated to happen on 22nd February 2015 at Survey Auditorium in Dehradoon, Uttrakhand. Apart from Hindi, English, Bengali and other language films including Spanish films will be shown at the festival with English and/or Hindi subtitles for the second consecutive year. The festival will be giving away Awards in the main segments that include Best Film and 2 runners up for the same category, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Creative Concept and Best Music Composition.

“UFD Uttarakhand Short Film Festival is in its second edition and is an important part of the growing Uttarakhand Film Culture. In fact, last year saw the release of 'Rajula – A Himalayan tale of Love' having Bollywood as well as local homegrown actors. Also the fact that apart from Himachal and Kashmir, even Uttarakhand offers many scenic locations to shoot films and that too at very nominal cost compared to Kashmir. By bringing the film fraternity to Uttarakhand through this festival is to also invite makers to shoot their films here and this is one of our main initiatives,” says G.S. Thapa who is organizing the UFD Uttarakhand Short Film Festival.

A special jury will decide the awards that will be presenting the cinematic variety and cultural diversity through the cinematic medium. This year, USFF has also tied up with many key partners in promoting the event nationally as well as across the globe. In this endeavour of theirs, USFF has tied up with Films & TV World - an online entertainment portal that has been the mouth piece of quite a few international level film festivals. Till now, Films & TV World has partnered with Mumbai International Film Festival, Darbhanga International Film Festival, Imphal International Short Film Festival, Lakecity International Short Film Festival, Aahan Film Festival, Cortokino Film Festival, Sand Dunes International Short Film Festival and many others.

“This year’s preliminaries at USFF also are to preferentially choose films that utilize the short film format to show new perspectives, and we at USFF are hopeful that we will be able to bring in some noteworthy short films this year from across the globe. As most of the short & documentary films are not shown on the big screen in theaters, USFF is a grand platform for the film loving audiences of Uttarakhand to watch them. Also the fact that they will get to see good short fiction, documentary and public service films from all regions of India & abroad is not only a good opportunity for them but also for the makers to reach the audiences out here,” signed of Mr. Thapa.
