Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is bringing
a slice of its festival to the suburbs with the 'Best of Kashish ' screening
organized as part of the ongoing Mumbai Pride Month.
'Best of Kashish ', a 4 hour programme of LGBT (lesbian,
gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) films that have won awards or have been
audience favourites at Kashish 2014, will be screened at this event to be held
on January 24th 4pm-8pm at SNDT Women's College, Juhu.
Some of the notable films are 'Families are Forever' (Winner
of Kashish 2014 Best Documentary Short), 'Naked' (Winner of Kashish 2014 Best
International Narrative Short), 'P.D.A' (Special Mention in Kashish 2014 Best
International Narrative Short), audience favourites 'Crush-Shake', 'Spooners',
'Luigi & Vincenzo' and the wonderful lesbian feature 'Margarita' from
Canada.
"These films touch a chord within us and make us
realize that LGBTQ persons are human beings with the same human emotions, and
they too need to be accepted as part of the larger social mainstream in every
country. It is time we stop discrimination and hatred against LGBTQ persons.
Let us together build a society that accords equality and dignity for
everyone", said Sridhar Rangayan, festival director of Kashish.
The event promises to be a roller-coaster journey of
happiness & hope, fun & fights, tears & trauma, laughter &
love.
Be there to be part of this memorable journey.
