Bollywood actor, philanthropist, and the host of the previous season of MTV Roadies - Sonu Sood was recently seen in Amritsar gearing up for the next season of MTV Roadies and announcing the most awaited on-ground auditions for Season 19! Kickstarting the season’s audition announcement, the video shows him prepping with some sugarcane juice for a journey that promises to be replete with Kaand, referring to the teaser launch, and logo reveal of the show’s latest season – ‘Karm ya Kaand’, which has created a stir amongst excited fans. Not just that – the actor also mentioned some mysterious additions to the upcoming season. Will they be the ones who create some major Kaand? Fans can only wait and watch to find out!

The Northeast Film Festival 2023 was a resounding success

The Northeast Film Festival 2023 was a spectacular celebration of Northeast India’s artistic and cultural heritage. The three-day festival featured some excellent films and documentaries from Northeast India. Guest of honour, film director Shri. Rahul Rawail performed the inauguration. Shri Armstrong Pame, Director (Films), Ministry of I&B, welcomed all dignitaries and delivered a note on northeast Indian films. The introduction of Films made in the Northeast was done by Mrs Pooja Sharma, Chairperson of Sikkim Film Promotion Board. A Special Note was delivered by Shri. Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films), Ministry of I&B and MD NFDC.

Several renowned film personalities from Bollywood, like Randeep Hooda, Director like Abhinav Kashyap, Rahul Rawail, John Mathew Matthan, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Akashaditya Lama, Film Producer Nitin Tej Ahuja, Sanjay Suri, Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure, Gulshan Grover, Mahima Chaudhry, Amrita Goswami, Digvi Shaha, Imtiaz Barolia, Casting Director Jogi Mallang, Paragg Mehta, Raj Singh Chowdhary, Lin Lashram, Bijou Thaangjam, Nicolas Karkhongar, Vedika Nawani, Rajni Basumatary and many more attended the festival. Senior officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were also present.

The Northeast Film Festival 2023 was a spectacular celebration of Northeast India’s artistic and cultural heritage. The event was held at the NFDC Campus from March 24 to 26. The event began with a Red Carpet welcome for guests on March 24, followed by a media interaction at JB Hall NFDC campus in Mumbai. The three-day festival featured some excellent films and documentaries from Northeast India. Guest of honour, film director Rahul Rawail opened the inaugural programme while Armstrong Pame, Director (Films), Ministry of I&B, welcomed the dignitaries and delivered a note on northeast Indian films. Pooja Sharma, Chairperson of Sikkim Film Promotion Board gave introduction of Films made in the Northeast and Special Note was delivered by Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films), Ministry of I&B and MD NFDC. 

The festival also saw Master classes conducted with eminent Directors & Producers including Nitin Tej, Film Maker & Writer Imtiaz Barolia, Director Sanjay Puran Singh, Director John Mathew Mathan as well as Acting Master classes by celebrity actor Randeep hooda and many various sessions by different big Bollywood personalities.

The festival saw huge turnaround of spectators from Mumbai to watch Northeast movies and documentaries which was showcased in 3 cinema halls. Such events are necessary to bridge the gap between northeastern filmmakers and mainstream film industry thus giving a broader spectrum to filmmakers from NE. The three-day event Also witnessed various sessions for filmmakers of Northeast India. A pitching session was conducted by actor Sanjay Suri, Sri. Charan, MX Player, Zero gravity films & Roy Kapur Films.

Organised by Sikkim Film Board & Find Studioz with NFDC, the chairperson of the festival was Writer, Producer, Director Prof. Dr. Mohan Das who has a vast experience of conducting film festivals as well as an eminent Jury member across the globe.

Gear up to watch the K-Drama Doctor Stranger on Zing

With the ever-growing popularity of Korean dramas across the country, India’s leading youth entertainment channel – Zing is ever ready to meet the entertainment needs of its Gen-Z audience with fresh and young content. This month, it brings you the medical K-Drama series ‘Doctor Stranger’ for its viewers. Doctor Stranger follows the story of a talented neurosurgeon, Park Hoon, who falls in love with a mysterious woman, Song Jae Hee. As the story progresses, their complicated past and love for each other is tested as they navigate various challenges. Park Hoon also finds himself drawn to Oh Soo Hyun, who is the daughter of the hospital director. He is torn between his feelings for Oh Soo Hyun and his loyalty to his childhood sweetheart, Song Jae Hee, who like him was also a defector from North Korea. This drama is the first ever medical drama to air on the channel and will guarantee to keep the audiences on the edge of their seats.

Surinder Films acquires Addatimes, the first Bengali OTT Platform of the Country

Kolkata headquartered film production company, Surinder Films, has acquired Addatimes, the first Bengali on-demand OTT Platform in the country. Surinder Films is one of the leading and revered Production Houses of Kolkata with which the audience associates quality, novelty and entertainment. Surinder Films has produced over 100 Bengali films and has now become one of the most prominent names in the field of content production; producing more than 6000 hours of television content across all the leading TV channels. Addatimes, which was launched in 2016, was the first platform to create original web series, short films, Bengali video songs, short love stories, detective movies, thrillers & suspense dramas & comedy series for the Bengali audience. 

“We have been in the business of Bengali film production, distribution and content creation for both regional & national channels. In today’s context, we found that the OTT Platforms have immense growth potential and it is the right time to invest in them. Thus, we decided to acquire Addatimes, the first Bengali and one of the well-known OTT platforms. The first web series after acquisition to be streamed on Addatimes will be Amriter Sandhane - The Banaras Chapter, from 14th April, 2023, celebrating the occasion of Poila Boishak (Bengali New Year). This 8-episode series is a mythological thriller set in the holy city of Varanasi. The star cast of Amriter Sandhane - The Banaras Chapter includes Chandan Roy Sanyal, Sauraseni Maitra & Debasish Mondal amongst others and it is directed by Abhinandan Dutta. Following this, there will be a rib-tickling series, Gentlemen, starring Joy Sengupta, Mir Afsar Ali, Rudranil Ghosh & Madhurima Basak in the lead, which is directed by Korak Murmu. Gentlemen will be streaming from May, 2023.

This apart, Addatimes would also digitally premiere some mega feature films like Kaberi Antardhan (on 26th March, 2023) followed by Mitin Mashi, SagardwipeyJawker Dhan & Magic and many more in the coming months. New films like Love Marriage, Bhootpori, Ardhangini, Paakhi, Tarakar Mrityu & Tenida will be digitally premiered in Addatimes post their theatrical releases.

“We plan to release between 15 -18 original contents a year, to begin with. As far as the films are concerned, there will be more than one release per month,” added Mr Singh.

Addatimes will be available on Play store, App Store, Android TV, Fire TV and Samsung TV. The yearly subscription plans are 799 INR for a single screen and 1199 INR for 2 screens. For international viewers, the subscription comes at $ 49.99 for double screen per year.
