From shooting sets to private screenings to artists interactions, many
a times a film’s spoiler has made its way much before a film is released. Either
it creates a hype or mars the film’s success depends on how grave the spoiler
was. But it has rarely happened that a major star has given a spoiler to her
fans. But it has happened with Gadar 2. Actress Ameesha Patel who makes her
comeback again in the sequel of Gadar has dropped a major spoiler ahead of its
release in an attempt to clear speculations about the fate of her character
Sakina in the film.
No sooner did the trailer of Gadar 2: The Katha Continues was released
officially, fans have been speculating about Sakina’s death during cross-border
altercations as Sunny Deol was seen shedding tears at a grave. She also posted
a still from the recently released teaser of Gadar 2, where Sunny's iconic
character Tara Singh is seen mourning and praying in front of a grave. Also,
the rehashed version of Gadar's iconic song Udd Jaa Kale Kaava had also fuelled
the speculations since Sakina’s eyes were purple in the new version unlike in
the 2001 film.
Ameesha Patel has however issued a clarification on Instagram about the
fate of her character Sakina in Gadar 2. Sharing a still from the teaser of the
film, the actress revealed that Sakina was not dead in the sequel to 2001’s
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. “Too many of u have been concerned n worried about this
shot from GADAR 2 thinking it is SAKINA who is dead!!! Well it’s not!! Who it
is I can’t say but it is NOT SAKINA!," she wrote on Instagram.
Ameesha’s spoiler, however, was not received well in all quarters as
some fans think it's a massive spoiler. What prompted her to issue this clarification
(or is it a disclaimer?) about the fate of her character Sakina in Gadar 2 is
not known. But it didn’t amuse anyone –
neither her fans nor the massive audience who are eagerly waiting for the
sequel.
Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is scheduled to be released in India on
11th August 2023. The teaser was released on 12th June 2023, coinciding with
the 22nd anniversary of Gadar Ek Prem Katha. Gadar Ek Prem Katha was
re-released in cinemas, on 9th June 2023 and is also available on rent on Zee5
in 4K version for a limited time.
