Back in 2017, Nithilan turned a lot of heads with his film Kurangu
Bommai, which was a hit at the Box Office, garnering good reviews. After a hibernation
of five long years, Nithilan has returned to deliver another colossal hit with
the National Award winner actor Vijay Sethupathi in his film MAHARAJA, which
also stars filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Arul Doss,
Munishkanth, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Bharathiraja, Vinod Sagar, PL
Thenappan and a few more prominent actors.
Produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under Passion
Studios and The Route, respectively, this will be actor Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th
film and the makers made the title announcement by releasing a poster that had
a tagline, ‘What goes around comes around’. Vijay Sethupathi took to his
official Twitter account to share the news. "#VJS50 Titled #Maharaja.
Written and directed by @Dir_Nithilan," the actor wrote alongside the
poster of the film.
Though majorly known for his writing and directorial prowess, Kashyap
have at times indulged in acting with Akira, Imaikkaa Nodigal, and AK vs AK to
his credits as an actor. He too shared the update on his Twitter page.
"Even the darkness fears his brutal politics. Beware, he’s coming!! #VJS50
Titled '#Maharaja'. Get ready to handle the toughest ones in the game. Written
and directed by @Dir_Nithilan #MakkalSelvan @VijaySethuOffl," the
filmmaker-actor tweeted.
Announcing the film with the launch of the poster, the makers also mentioned
that the filming has been completed and the post-production work is in its
final stage. A prominent face in the Hindi domain, Vijay Sethupathi’s role had
been appreciated in ‘Farzi’ that had Shahid Kapoor in the lead. He will now be
seen in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan where fans caught a small glimpse of the
actor practising boxing in the recently released Jawan Prevue. He will also be
seen in a silent film, titled Gandhi Talks as well as Merry Christmas with
Katrina Kaif that is directed by Sriram Raghavan.
