Sometimes an amazing film comes at just the right moment in your life. Kuch Alagsa or In Search of Sunshine is one such film, with love and self-acceptance as their central theme. A curious movie experiment by five visionary directors in a single thematic journey, the five amazing films are directed by Arhaan Jamal, Dr. Humayun Kabir, Anshuman Chaturvedii, Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Mohan Das. An anthology drama, #KuchAlagsa or #InSearchofSunshine is an inquisitional movie experiment that tries to innovate and change itself, either by breaking the rules or crossing the limits. These five interwoven and complex stories however, do not link at any point during the narrative and develop intermittently throughout the film. Like every other form of art, this film is a reminder of the interconnectedness and the beauty of exploring our own connections through five different stories pushing the boundaries of cinema further and further.
Speaking about the film, Mohan Das of #EonFilms whose film is also a part of the anthology drama explains that this anthology film was born of his desire to find a meaningful way to showcase short, meaningful and engaging content on a large format and taking it across to the global audience. Offering a blend of stories within a limited period, the films that form a part of this anthology drama includes What’s in a Name by Arhaan Jamal, Gulabi Aasman by Dr. Humayun Kabir, Kathakaar by Anshuman Chaturvedii, Lachit the Warrior by Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Lajja the Shame by Mohan Das. High on action, drama, mystery, and suspense, this anthology movie is sure to be achieving a magnificent feat and setting examples for Indian Cinema for years to come.
This is also not the first time that Mohan Das is involved with an anthology film. He was the Associate Producer of the engaging anthology drama Daughters of this Century that was showcased as the Opening Film in the Indian Panorama in #IFFI 1997 at Trivandrum, India. Starring Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Nandita Das, Deepa Sahi, Debashree Roy, Jeet, Milind Gunaji and Sulbha Deshpande, “Daughters of this Century” was based on five short stories by legendary Bengali writers including Rabindranath Tagore whose short story Jibito O Mrito along with Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Abhagir Swarga, Gour Kishore Ghosh's Aei Daho, Prafulla Roy's Satgharia and Dibyendu Palit's Kaanch was part of the package. Produced by Sesh Nath Banerjee under his banner Shunya Communications, it was directed by the legendary Tapan Sinha best known for his Bengali films and the Hindi Ek Doctor ki Maut.
